Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are leaving the president’s nine-day foreign trip to return to Washington.
“The plan was always for them to go back to D.C. after Rome,” White House official stated for the reporters.
Trump’s companion group has shrunk for the back end of his trip, which includes meeting with NATO allies and the Group of Seven industrialized nations.
Ivanka’s husband Kushner is one of the president’s closest people whom he can trust. Kushner “helped plan and oversee the first part of the trip” explained the official.
The goal of those visits was to use the holy cities of the world’s three biggest monotheistic religions to encourage the leaders to stamp out extremism and terrorism, aides said.
Chief of staff Reince Priebus and chief strategist Stephen Bannon returned to Washington after the first segment of the trip. White House officials say that their travel plans were long planed.
Officials still accompanying the president in his trip are Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, national security adviser H.R. McMaster, deputy national security adviser Dina Powell, press secretary Sean Spicer, top communications aide Hope Hicks and social media director Dan Scavino.
First Lady Melania Trump is planning to stay by her husband side until the end of the trip.
