Actor Jeff Bridges wasn’t on President Trump’s side during the elections, and he doesn’t support his policies about federal food assistance programs, but in a recent interview he stated that he is “rooting” for President Trump as “a human being.”
In the interview Bridges didn’t judge other people who strongly supported Trump’s election, but he also didn’t want to oppose them.
“Everybody has something different and unique to contribute to society and with different ways of doing it,” Bridges stated. “Some people will be blatantly out there talking about their disappointments and ridiculing the way President Trump is acting.”
The actor has another viewpoint.
“I’m rooting for him to do well by our country,” Bridges stated. “I’m rooting for him as a human being to do the cool thing.”
According to Bridges, this statement means that President Trump’s policies will guarantee that childhood hunger wouldn’t be impaired.
“The health of our children is a wonderful compass that can tell us if our country is going the right direction,” he stated. “That means we’re off course, so I’m rooting for the president to get on course.”
Even though he supported Hillary Clinton during the elections, Bridges has a positive attitude towards the President.
In a November interview, he stated: “I’m rooting for the guy, Mr. Trump.” “One of the things that are most appealing about him is his unpredictability. A less kind word might be his hypocrisy, but unpredictability and hypocrisy are things that each of us human being share. It’s something we all struggle with and work with.”
“I’m rooting for the guy, but we’ll see how it all goes. You just don’t know how it will all work out,” he continued.
Soon after the President’s inauguration triggered the massive national protests, Bridges called everyone to calm down and come to their senses.
“We point fingers at people, we point fingers at Trump, he points fingers at people. How are we going to come together and realize that we’re on this little dust speck in space, you know?” Bridges stated.
“Things are finite here, you know. How are we going to work together to make the most beautiful existence that we can, you know?” he stated.
In his opinion, the people can close gaps if they are united and work together.
“Just be with these people who feel opposite than you, and just kind of be with this uncomfortable feeling, like, what are we going to do? If you spend enough time in that situation, not knowing yourself, not having such a strong opinion that you can’t hear anybody else, some kind of loving action will come out of that,” he stated.
